Precision manufactured from cedar stained fir. All weatherboards are tongue and grooved for superior strength and stability. Finished with an animal friendly, UV and weather resistant coating. The timber roof is finished with waterproof asphalt tile and coloured a pleasant green. - The nesting box roof is made of the same material. The coop contains two nesting boxes with outside access. The mesh in the run is of a small enough size to repel rodents - It's heavily galvanised.
The coop is raised over the run (affording more protection from predators) - the door from the coop to the run has an "easy operate" mechanism - there are two perches - with a slide out tray for cleaning - Handy hint - To facilitate coop cleaning, add a liberal amount of sawdust/shavings etc. - (referred to as litter) The coop has a "see through" door with perspex panels.
Some other brands claim their coop/run is fox proof - sadly - not true. It is possible to provide more protection by placing this set up on a panel of wire netting, or mesh. - if you use reinforcing mesh with a square spacing of around 100mm, you still allow your chooks to scratch around and "do their thing" - whilst preventing foxes from digging underneath. Important to extend the mesh around 200mm around the edge of the run. It is very important to close the coop up at night.
There are three access points in this set up - The nesting box roof, the coop side door and the run access door. The run access door is large enough to enable placement of food and water containers in the run. The coop comes flat packed with detailed assembly instructions and all hardware. All you need is a screwdriver - takes about 25 mins to assemble.
