The Four Seasons Chicken Coop and run is designed specifically for the purpose of keeping a few chooks in the backyard. The Four Seasons Coop can be used as a secure lockup at night, free ranging the chickens during the day or, use it as a coop and run and use it like a "tractor".

The house contains two nesting boxes with outside access. The nesting boxes have a child proof (young child) catch and it is lockable.
The house has two solid perches and has removable floors for easier cleaning.  (Handy hint - to facilitate cleaning of wooden floors in any coop - add a liberal amount of sawdust/shavings/fine straw etc.) The roof lifts and has stays that "click" into place.   The timber roof is finished with waterproof asphalt tile and coloured a pleasant green.

There is a moveable panel in the rear wall of the coop to provide varying degrees of cross flow ventilation - combined with the use of "chocks" under the roof it's possible to tailor ventilation to your climate. - cosy in cooler weather - cooler in hot weather. NOTE: When looking at any coop/hen house check out ventilation - (or lack of it!) it's very important.

There are two access doors with ramps.  They are lifted and held in place by pad bolts when security is required(Night time) One at the front for access to the run and the other at the side for use when hens are being allowed to "free range"
The floor of the coop is in three pieces - makes it easy to remove for cleaning.

Precision manufactured from cedar stained fir. All weatherboards are tongue and grooved for superior strength and stability.  Finished with an animal friendly, UV and weather resistant coating. The run has loose pin hinges on the front access door.  When in use as an extension on the house the door is removed. When in use as a separate entity the door is simply dropped back into place. The house and run are securely coupled by hooks. (only takes a couple of minutes)

Being able to use the house and run separately enables you to use the house as a secure lock up in the evenings and use the run as a "tractor" or easily moved enclosure to graze garden beds, lawns etc. for feeding and pest removal during the day. The flexibility of this set up is one of its best features. The run has a cantilevered roof/door, which allows easy access for feeding, watering, closing the coop door and catching chooks etc.

We would recommend that the coop will sleep up to half a dozen chooks - and that they be free ranged during the day - breed and size counts of course. The run is probably suited for 3 or 4 - again depending on breed and size. Not a bad idea to start off with a couple if you are a "first timer". We get quite a few emails as to where to buy chooks, here's a tip - type chickens, pullets, chooks, point of lay and your locality into Google.   Keep in mind that chicks are a lot cheaper than point of lay - but there are more risks/problems in rearing chicks - if you are inexperienced, don't be overly ambitious at first. The house/run comes flat packed in two cartons.  Assembly instructions are enclosed - along with ALL necessary hardware (bolts - screws - etc)  It takes about 25 mins. to put each of them together - A screwdriver is all that is  required!
